Privacy policy

Summ (“we”, “us”) is operated by Black Sheep Meedia. This policy explains what we collect when you use the Summ website, Chrome extension, and related services — and how we use it.

What we collect

• Waitlist / early-access email. If you join the list on summ.ink, we collect the email address you submit for product updates and early access. That form is processed by Web3Forms on our behalf.
• Account email. You sign in with a magic link sent to your email. We store that address to identify your account and deliver digests.
• Web app session. On summ.ink/app/, after you open a magic link we store an access token in your browser’s localStorage so you stay signed in on that device. Clearing site data or signing out removes it.
• Saved article text. When you save a page with the Chrome extension, we store the article URL and the text content we extract so we can build your digest.
• Digest preferences. Settings that control how and when you receive episodes or email digests.
• Payment metadata. If you subscribe to Plus or Pro, Stripe processes payments. We receive limited billing status (for example, whether your subscription is active) — not your full card number.
• Basic technical logs. Server logs that help us operate and secure the service (for example, request timing and errors). We do not sell this data.

How we use it

• Send product updates and early-access notices to the email you provided on the waitlist form.
• Authenticate you via magic-link email (sent through Amazon SES) and keep you signed in on the web app using the localStorage token described above.
• Store and process article text you save so we can synthesize your daily episode.
• Send email digests and service messages (also via Amazon SES).
• Manage subscriptions and account access (via Stripe).
• Improve reliability and fix bugs.

Chrome extension

The extension runs when you choose to save a page. It sends the page URL and extractable article text to our servers under your account. It does not read your browsing history in the background for advertising, and it does not sell your data to third parties.

Email & magic links

Sign-in links and digests are sent by email using Amazon SES. The link is meant for you alone — do not forward it. Digests go only to the address on your account.

Who we share with

We use processors that help us run Summ — for example Web3Forms (waitlist / early-access form submissions), Amazon SES (email), Stripe (payments), and hosting providers. They process data on our instructions, not for their own marketing. We do not sell your personal information.

Retention

We keep waitlist emails until you ask us to remove them or we no longer need them for updates, and keep account, saved article, and digest data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated saved content; we will remove it except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, or billing reasons.

Your choices

You can stop saving articles, unsubscribe from digests where offered, or request access/deletion of your data by emailing us. For EU/EEA users, you may also have rights under applicable data-protection law (access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection).

Children

Summ is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as Summ evolves. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use after a material change means you accept the updated policy.
